Default S.o.s

Hello everyone,

my name is Constantin Ivan,i'm from Romania and as far as i know i am the only one who builds a Lotus 7 here. The car is more than 60 % done(i m using C. Gibbs's book) but i m at the stage where i need the suspension(coilovers),the nosecone and the scuttle. I ve tried to buy the items from Darren George but after i ve read some posts about him i changed my mind. There is another guy(NTS) who seems like is out of business as well. So ...what should i do? where should i go ? Because of the postage costs it s better if can find all the items in the same place but not necesarly...
Thks guys...sorry for my English...i'll try to put some pics as soon as possible.

I think your best bet is equinox , a couple of people on here have used them recently and have commented on how good the quality and customer service is.
Whatever you do dont buy anything from Darren George the bloke is a complete crook.

Hi Constantin, concerning the bodywork. I suggest to look for a local car tuning specialist who make GRP body-kits for production cars, as transport to Romania may become very pricey.
Actually it's quite easy, as seen from a build log of a member of this forum alga. Here's the link http://locost.lt/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14&start=170. Another big advantage of this route is that you can add some little unique finishing touches to your bodywork.
At least for my own build I'm going for a custom bodywork route from a local GRP specialist.

He he, I didn't finish my GRP parts, in the end I pooled up on shipping with someone else and got a Saturn/NTS set (well, almost, more on that later).

You're looking at ~£230 shipping cost for the bodywork if it's shipped as freight on a pallet.

The shocks are a lot easier, you should be able to order from Dampertech or any other company that makes or sells shocks. I bought mine from a forum group buy organized by 3GE Components, the shipping was £32 if I recall correctly. It's a compact box weighing exactly 10 kg. Note that the first printing of the book has the wrong damper size (9"-13"), it's corrected in the ammendments (9"-13" +1" extension), but forum lore claims that it's cheaper to get a standard size, 9.5"-14".

P.S. And, oh, welcome to the forum, let me put you on the map of Haynes builders, the link is in my sig ↓↓↓, add your approximate coords or approximate address to that thread.

Madis, at what ballpark cost are you looking with custom GRP panels?

It might pay to think hard about what you may need from the uk and order from one supplier. That way you can have everything palletized and sent as one package. Just thoughts.

Thank you guys for your quick repley....i think i will go with AGM for body panels...if will fit to my chassis (don t see why not ---if it s a Haynes).
As about the coilovers don t know if they have those with the new dimensions you mentioned about.9 13+1.

Anyway ..thank you again...keep in touch...and maybe i will meet you soon when i will come to UK for SVA and registration....in Romania is yet impossible.
Wish you all the best.

Maybe it would be cheaper to buy bodywork in Poland ? Shipping should be cheaper too.
We got supplier here:
