Default possible cock up!

Have been having a play with my electrics (donor loom from j reg 1.8 cvh sierra) and have succeeded in getting the immobilisor which was already fitted flashing, and the small black relay in the donor fusebox clicking when I turn the ignition on. I don't however get any ignition lights. I think I have the main earths fixed (although not the ones to the lights) but have found a white plug coming from the ford little black box with nothing plugged into it and no spare plugs to be seen (3 brown/yellow wires, 1 white/black, 1 yellow/black and 1 red/yellow wires going to it). Im thinking I must have snipped it off when removing the loom by mistake?

Could this be my problem and if so how can I fix it? And if not has anyone got any bright ideas what the issue could be? I still have the bits I removed from the donor loom so have probably still got the plug if it helps?

If not then I'm up a creek without a paddle!

Help........

Cheers

Russ

Not at home at the moment but will check and try to get a picture. Fairly sure the earth is fixed but will check.

Just had a look at the Ford wiring diagram and it looks like those wires are indeed part of the Anti-theft circuit. You will need to find the plug and trace the wires through the old loom to find where they connect to or if you have a Haynes manual for the sierra check the wiring diagram for Anti-theft 1990 onwards.

I cant be sure, but the dash lights should work regardless of the imobaliser anyway.

Right, anti theft module issue is now sorted and when I turn the key the engine turns over so doesn't seem to be any issues there.... But still no battery light or oil lights etc. I get the actual dash illumination. Indicator light flashes and main beam works, not sure about handbrake as it isn't fitted yet!

Would all the earths need to be fixed to get battery lights? I.e the ones that form part of the front and rear light units and am I being stupid but do I need an earth strap from the gearbox to the chassis or is it sufficient to have the large black wire bolted to starter motor bolt where it bolts to gearbox then other end to battery then the connected smaller black wire is bolted to the chassis?

Officially confused now. Latest on battery light etc issue is that I have added an extra earth from engine to chassis, moved earth wire that comes from battery to gearbox bolt rather than started motor bolt. Checked all earths are clean and as far as i can tell I have everything wired up correctly......but to no avail, still no battery, oil pressure or handbrake lights. Am now at a bit of a loss!

Have also noticed on the pictures of when I removed the engine and loom that there was an extra earth lead going off towards the bulkhead from the battery? Any ideas where that went or was it just an extra earth?

At the alternator I have live at the battery lead (obviously) but no live on either of the blue wires even with the ignition turned on. If I connect a live direct to the blue wire at the back of the clocks I get all three lights that don't work lighting up so that bit seems to be working.....

fuse 22 supplys the handbrake warning circuit. is the handbrake switch grounded and the handbrake up?

fuse 22 is directly feed from the black/yellow on the ignition switch.

ignition switch red should be +12V from battery.
