Default Seat Mounting

I think i'm going to mount my seats on 2 3mm mild bars welded into position on the chassis for extra support so their not just bolted to the ali floor, the question is has anyone got any ideas or where they should be put as i don't have the seats yet, and i wanna weld them in before paiting the chassis etc...

there is a thread discussing this, i can,t remember which section its in , maybe its in the chassis section, I believe it was posted by Ashg & its info to do with fitting "seat runners" or possibly has " metro seat runners " in its title, sorry i,m being no help but its a while since this was posted.

It also depends on what seats / runners you intend to fit,
I,ve welded in 25mm box tube to fit my runners to, as i needed a slightly higher seating position

cheers
andy

Beat me to it Ginge

One thing I would say !!

If you are going to be using the same Triton seats & Metro runners as Ash, go for it.

If you end up using different runners & seats, you may regret welding in the seat supports in, too early

If you weld them in & fit the floor it will be a nightmare to change things

I have waited until I got my seats, now I just have to get the free runners to fit the seats then I can fit the cross members to my chassis.

Cheers Ginge

Hi,

I fitted mine as per AshG's diagram planning on using metro runners, however, a set of landrover ones came available so used them.

Unfortunately i had to modify that arrangement to enable me to fit my runners. I welded in after the floor was fitted (modified bit) but only on the top section. I'll be using an extra load spreader under the car to compensate (not that it needs it, just being over cautious).

It won't do any harm to stick them in now and modify after depending on runners used.

Probably no help what so ever but hey ho.
