Advice taken
Right, seems overwhelming that I should remove the carpet, so will take the advice given, as the missus will be even more unhappy if I burn the garage down.

It's rising!!
I can't belive how hard it has been to make time to get in the garage!! Had a weeks holiday aswell, but 3 kids, working full time and being the summer hols does not help.
But at last 2 days worth of work, having taught myself to weld, took a few hours setting it right, but am now getting penetration. Cut out what I needed to, have tacked all the bottom rails. Put the first 4 uprights in, tacked the front frame and first 2 top rails. Problem now is I have knackered the tip, which was a 1.0mm, not the 0.8mm tip I was told was in it, although not sure how much diff this makes? Enjoyed using the grinder but have a feeling that the bang it made followed by a snapped screw falling out, means it may not last much longer? But all in all am very happy. Once I get a new tip I will progress some more at the weekend. I know the carpet is still there, but only while I am tacking. |

welcome J
I to have just started the build process, keep an eye out for bargains on the forum. I picked up my donor parts on here for a bargain £195.00 which included 2.0 pinto, type 9 box driveshaft log book etc etc. PS That carpet has got to go one way or the other, better down the local tip than up in smoke with the rest of the house!!! Good luck for the build Ssssnake

Hi J and welcome - it's great to see someone else from this part of the world starting their build. Fell free to get in touch if you need anything as i'm not too far from you.

Hey Chris (homersdouble), very handy to know someone is near, what stage are you at with the build?
Where in Sussex are you? |

My build is progressing all too slowly
It's been about a year and a half, but main chassis is all welded & painted. Floor, seatback and some of the trans tunnel are panelled. Brake & fuel pipes laid in. Have all the major mechanical parts except the wishbones that i'm making at the moment. I'm in Pulborough. |
