Who is in Boston, Lincs?
Hi folks, hope you all had a good Christmas. I have just relocated from the sunny south to the wilds of Lincolnshire. Now I have lots more space my thoughts are turning to another build. I seem to remember there is a poster on this forum that gives an address of Boston. If you are in the Boston area could you please drop me a private message? I need to try and catch up with who makes what these days. Am looking at many build threads but having someone locally that is up to speed would be great.
All the best, Dave. |

Seasons greetings Dave
Hi Dave
Great to see you about Even better to hear that you are thinking of a new build. Most likely local candidate is " michael92 " he is listed as being in Boston Lincs. If you click on the members tab ( Top of the screen ) Then choose member search & just add the location in the location field, click search, you should find a few name come up. Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the replies, I have sent a couple of PM's out.
Ronnie, good to see some of the old guard still active here. It's quite alarming how many builders have sold up or are selling up. I often wonder what happened to my car. I still have hundreds of photos of it, every time i look at them I can see something I would do different this time around. I am very pleased to see people moving away from the book design with different engines - I really like the sound of the fellow Bostonian's rotary engined build, hope to see that some time. When I sold my car I bought a Jag XJR with 420 BHP, I sold it last month so I could buy a 4x4 - we need one here:-) Can't help wondering if it would be possible to graft an engine and box from a V8 Jag in to a modified Roadster frame. Getting the power to the wheels could prove interesting and getting it from the wheels to the floor even more so. If I do start another one it will have to be something nobody else has done yet. All the best, Dave. |

Good to see you back,
I was looking at XJR's a couple of months ago but settled for an S-Type 3.0 Sport for the time being. May go up to an STR in the future The AJV8 should mate to a getrag 221 manual box ( i should think as the AJV8 is more or less an AJV6 with two extra cydlinders. TT

Hi TT, hope your build is going well. Driving an XJR is an amazing experience, the power is endless, the more revs the harder it pulls. I timed mine at 0-60 of 4.8 seconds, not bad for such a massive car with all the toys. Used Jags with body damage can be had for virtually nothing, I reckon I could get a good cheap one, sell the usable parts I don't need, make some money and have a damn fine engine for free. It sounds believable when I hear myself say it :-)
A diesel Freelander does not quite cut the mustard but it's what we need out here. At least it does a bit more than 16mpg round town All the best, Dave. |
