Default oil from type 9 output

May be a stupid question but should oil run out from the output shaft end of the gearbox when there is no propshaft fitted?
I'm guessing that once the prop is fitted, the oil seals work stopping any oil from escaping but just want to be sure my box isn't duff

Yes, oil is going out from the rear of the gear box if there is no propshaft, especially if it is leaning backward, this is perfectly normal
Hope this will help.

I can relate to that. At least 3 times during the build.

Pored out in the boot of my car, luckily had cardboard and cloths down but it does not smell nice.
