I thought i would convey this story in the hope that it may help other members from making the same mistake as me. !!??

My original donor was given to me for free by an old customer.

A low mileage 1.8 CVH estate whos body had come to the end of its life.

In typical me fashion, I went at it like a bull at a gate. In next to no time it was all stripped, boxed up A stored away, leaving nothing but an empty shell.

At the start of my build I was adamant that I wanted an age related plate for my build.
Although I would not diss a Q plate it was my personal prefference for an age related one. Personal plate at a later date perhaps.

When I collected the car the owner was unable to find the V5 document.

No problem I thought, I knew the owner would give it to me once he had found it.

When I scrapped the shell I followed advice given and arranged that it was to be disposed of as scrap metal rather than as a scrap car.

A few weeks after I scrapped the shell the V5 was given to me. It was promptly sent to DVLA to obtain a new document in my own name in order to keep it SORN'ed.

DVLA refused to issue a V5 as thier records showed that the vehicle had been scrapped.

In my haste to be rid of the shell I forgot to cut out the VIN number from the floor.
Some jobsworth at the scrapyard must have seen this & run it through the computer to notify DVLA.

Initially I did not think this would be too much of a problem but after reading about Frank's exploits with his local DVLA it was decided that I would keep my eye out for a second donor.

The one pictured was offered to me before christmas for £350, Passed at that price.
Last week my son asked if I was still interested in his friends old Sierra. Not at that price I said. He phoned his friend to offer £100. To my surprise he accepted.
