saturn Vs Vodou wishbones?
Hi Guys
I have got the stage where I have to commit to a front wishbone design. In NZ we have to get design approval before we can make our wishbones. Both of these bones are designed for MX5 uprights but have different lengths in both bones: Saturn is 410mm in lower and 242 + ball joint. The Vodou is 404mm for lower and 248 + ball joint for the upper. why the difference and what difference will these make? cheers john

Hi,
There are a few differences. The front frame design is different on the Vodou plans and the upper mounting points sit in a different position so if you have built a book spec front end then you would need to change the lengths anyway. The Vodou lowers are also not designed adjustible like the Saturn plans so the Saturn size could be +/-10mm with adjustment. The measurements are taken from different places on each of the plans, on the Saturn plans its taken from the back of the bush tube and on the Vodou plans it is taken from the centreline of the bush tude so really the Vodou plans lengths are more like 265mm and 421mm comparing to the Saturn plans. Taking it all into account the Vodou bones would give you a wider track width as the rears are also wider by ~30mm each side at the top. Not sure the drive shaft CVs have enough play in them to reach that far out though, not sure it was ever tested in a real build? Cheers Stot

I vaguely recall 7ish bought his wishbones from a place in Christchurch as they were certified and had been crack tested.
Maybe worth a search through his blog. |

cheers Stot, a closer look was needed Im going with the Vodou dimensions as they a closer to what I want to do.
yeah I could pay McGreggors or Frasers to do them, but that would kill my current budget.
