Default Transport needed

Hi All,

Hope someone can help, hoping to buy Andy B's part built roadster as would love to keep the car on the forum and it looks like Andy has done a great job so far.

Only problem is Andy is in Strathyclyde and I'm near Leeds. Don't have the transport and best quote I have had is 400 quid!!

Anyone know a cheaper way of me getting it down here?

All ideas welcome.

Have you thought about hiring a long wheelbase luton day hire should only cost 60 to 100 quid add 150 for fuel and a day of your time and job done

Hope this helps

Locost Builders always seem to recommend www.shiply.com. or as vmax1974 use a luton and collect yourself, meet Andy and have a chat about progress so far.

Its like anything to do with transport, to ask for a price for something like that is like chartering a plane [kin dear]. If however its put to them as a return load if they are passing its all different. There are probably dozens of small car transport companies wizzing about in that area that come south or visa versa on a daily basis, I bet they are empty one way!!, like afron said its a free quote.

Thanks to all of you that's really great, I think you have solved the problem.

Reckon the Luton Van is the best option as we will get to meet Andy which is a bonus.

Just need to figure out best day etc.

Again many thanks for the help and hopefully I might be able to post about the build soon.

I'll second that, nothing quite like collecting a car that you are going to finish off as a project.

Hi All,

Again many thanks for all the help with this greatly appreciated.

Asked a local guy for a quote as he says he's cheap (we will see)

But reckon the Luton Van is the way to go, just one question before driving upto Scotland:

Has anyone actually put a rolling chassis Haynes Roadster in the back of a Luton Van?

i.e will it fit and how did you get it in (how big do my mates need to be)

Cheers,

Nik

Assuming a Luton is 7ft wide (as is my iveco flatbed.) It should fit no probs.
If the Luton has a tail lift, push the front on. A couple of blocks at the back of the ramp to the bottom of the chassis. Lift up then push in. Only 1 mate needed. Unless your both weedy.
