A quickie on headlight support tubes
I am just about to cut my oval head light support tubes.
How long have people made these? (fig 4.29, page 50) I realise the maximum distance the lights can be from the widest part of the car is 400mm, but as I don’t have the widest part of the car yet it is quite hard to take a measurement. I was thinking, for aesthetics, mid way between the nose cone and front wheel might look OK. Your collective thoughts are anticipated. Back of into the garage to clean up some more rusty bits; I will pop back in an hour or so! Cheers Ginge

I think, off the top of my head, I made mine around 120mm from the centre of the hole to the chassis rail.

I think the car at its widest (with Saturn rear arches) is around 1700mm. The centres of the lamps are around 900mm (400mm in from either side). But if you have 7" lamps, the edge of the lamp would be 310mm in from the widest point. So its within the 400mm max required by IVA.
I ran my light cable under the support arm. Its just plain old easier. |

Thanks everyone.
I have now attached the tubes leaving them a little long as I am going to wait until I have the head lights before welding on the appropriate diameter tube on the end. Thanks again Ginge
