Hi
I didn't post anything last night,
because I wanted to see how Ginge and Ash faired up the hospital.

As Ash said we were there running the car up to temp.
Ash was standing at the front by the rad.
Ginge was sitting in the passenger seat watching the dial.

The top hose blew off and poor Ginge got it full in the face and arm
strait from the rad. He had no chance of getting away from it.
Luckily he had the thought of literally throwing himself out of the car
and rip his top off

Ash managed a bit better as when it blew he could at least get away from it.
He still got enough hot water on himself to make him get his trousers of in a rush.

I could see Ginge wasn't fairing so well. It looked like he may go into shock
so we decided the best place would be up the A&E.

Anyway guys, hope you are feeling slightly better this morning.
I'm sure The burns unit at East Grinstead will get you going again Ginge.

Just on a slightly lighter note.
When Ash's wife see him wandering about in his underpants, she asked him what had happened.
He told her he had burned the top of his leg.
First thing she did.......

Yea... check all was well in the marital department..
And they say men have a one track mind..

Its one of those situations where you say it could have been worse but was actually pretty horrific to start with

Good to see your both ok albeit injured and in pain! and hope you make a speedy recovery.

Makes you realise how dangerous playing around with cars can be

Out of interest, would it be worthwhile posting a pic of the offending joiner so we know what doesn't work?

Here's to a speedy recovery

Dont know what to say except hope the pain eases soon and you both heal nicely take care of yourselves
ive joined hoses with plain tube before and never had one pop off
It really is a lesson learned the hard way for you guys
on another note when your ready to play again check the radiator cap isnt too high a poundage most cars are happy with 7llbs but ive seen caps upto 30llbs!!! it really should of vented off the pressure before popping off the hose
and im sorry if this sounds like bolting the door after the horse has bolted its not meant that way
good luck and hope you still make the show if your up to it im hoping to go on sunday
All the best Ray

Actually Ray, that is the conclusion we came to that the cap was at fault.
It certainly wasn't at full boiling point when it blew.
I personally didn't see any prob with the joint, in fact Ash did the top hose exactly the same as mine.
Mines been no probs for the last 3000 miles. and that's in the summer heat of the south west of France.

I think it was just one of those unfortunate accidents.
It's just a shame Ginge got hurt so bad, because obviously Ash feels really guilty about it.

Default I'm alive!!!!

Hi all,

Just a quick update.

Went to the specialist burns unit at East Grinstead where the nurse proceeded to remove large quantities of dead skin, really not as painful as it sounds until she started pulling the hairs on my arm! I have another appointment, this time, at Salisbury burns unit (working my way across from Chatham to home via burns units) on Tuesday.

Here is the only picture I have which was taken by Ash in the hospital whilst he had his hand under the cold tap! The picture doesn’t really do it justice, not that I am trying to big myself up.

Yup thats what I saw...
Glad you didn't post the picture of your neck..Yuk..

I picked Ging's Sweat shirt up about 2 mins after the accident.
It was still almost too hot to hold.
God knows what it must have felt like whilst still wearing it.

Ash has now left the county.
So Ging you'll have to wait to beat him up..

Dogwood,

I have more pictures taken today, it is going to get (look) worst before it gets better.

I will see Ash tomorrow, he owes me £2.50 for the car park

Speedy recovery to both of you.

Think everyones going to stand well back when they test their own cars up to temp/pressure now. Just a shame people had to get hurt to learn this lesson eh?

That looks nasty Ginge

I hope you are feeling a little better today ( Wishfull thinking I suspect )

As a lifelong welder I am no stranger to nasty burns

Never had any on such a large area & can well imagine how the pair of you are feeling today

Makes my yesterdays arc burn insignificant & thats stinging like F**K

Get well soon the pair of you
