rear suspension mounts

hi just fitted my rear suspension brackets to my chassis yesterday. i made a couple of jigs and when it came to tacking the bracket on for the upper wishbone i had a 6mm gap. so what i did was just packed it down with a piece of steel. and the lower brackets are not in the middle of the of the 25mm box, they are down about 6mm. i looked at the chassis and the bottom rail (BR12) has lifted about 6mm due to welding. (i brought the chassis of greasemonkey) i have checked the measurements from the upper suspension bracket and it is all correct i just measured down instead of from the bottom rail. so the suspension is all ok inrelationship to each other just not in the correct places on the chassis. NOW WILL THIS BE A BIG PROBLEM????
SHOULD I START A FRESH????

I can't visualise how BR12 can distort 6 mm

It sounds like you need to lay your chassis on a proper flat surface and work out a proper reference. I wouldn't be wildly worried if it was ±3mm on mounting positions (my front upper wishbones have a 3mm packer on them) as its not going to cause any problems. But if your suspension is 6mm out, I'd want to be sure what I'm taking my measurements from was a good reference.

If you can get the mounting points to the correct position, relative to the front suspension mounts, I wouldn't be too concerned. Normally you wouldn't have to worry about that, but by the sounds of it, your chassis is going to need checking.

i've had the chassis on a 10mm plate with 100mm box section welded round the edge so the surface is very flat. i have made jigs so the mounts are right but they did need packing down. but the bottom mounts are not in the middle of the 25mm box. but i can make them strong by putting an other 25mm box down the edge.
