Question Which print of the book

So after a loooooong!!, long long, long long long time of buggering about considering different ideas for project cars, i finally decided to stop all that and just build the roadster.

I dont know how i am going to get a scratch build car through roadworthy legally in South Africa bub i am going to build it anyway.

I have some thoughts on spec:
2.0 zetec.
Got bottom end free. It ran bearings and they can find pistons. I am sure they did not look hard enough.

Currently cleaning out the garage to build the build table.

1st question.
How do i know whether my book is first print or second print?
I understand the second print has corrections made to dimensions in chassis build.

Firstly welcome to the house of fun temptation's on it's way....
If you turn a few pages to the page that looks the front cover the page on the left will say 'first printed in Feb 2007'
and if a second edition will say
'Reprinted July 2008'
Also look at the 'announcements' section of this forum and look at the 'stickys' where you will find the 'amendments' most of which are correct which are most useful.
Best of luck to you.

I know rebuilding the blacktop zetec is going to be pricey, but i need steel rods and forged pistons anyway. So this way it is already stripped.

Thank you for the welcome.

My bought almost 1 year ago 'book' says:
reprinted July 2008 And October 2010.
More than enough challenge IMO to build the Kar ..
without the digression of building a Screamer motor.
Which may or may not prove tractable enough to be worth driving when it's all done.
A 1500rpm powerband is ..tiny.. even on a Crotch rocket Moto.

Rebuilding a Zetec? That does not sound like a worthwhile investment. Several months ago you could get a brand new crate Zetec for around £700, or a second hand one for under £200...

Go for it mate.Whatever floats your personal boat
I think the struggle would be to find an engine NOT suitable for the roadster. Its lack of weight will probably effectively double an engines performance in its original body(Chapman-add lightness )
I think if it ends up sounding just a little bit like an F1 car then so much the better

In South Africa the Zetec goes for quite a bit.
Rods, pistons, engineering and gasket set through friends are much cheaper.

Edition one of the book. i downloaded the update documents and intend to have the chassis done by end JANUARY 2014.
