Another Pedal Box question

Just before I drill for the clutch master cylinder holes on my MX5 based pedal box i'm just checking what the 2mm offset is for. The pivots are centralized 50mm from the left hand side of the back plate but the 36mm hole is 52mm to the center.

I cant afford to buy a master cylinder at the moment so am trying to source as much info from the net which is proving a little tricky.

When I have all the info I will make it available on one drawing.
