We'll I've finally managed to get to that stage! Ive spent the past weekend solidly in the garage trying to get it done and my effort seems to have paid off!

I couldn't have gotten to this stage without the help of HandyAndy, Spud (a.k.a Saturn Sports Cars) as well as the rest of the members on here. So I'd just like to give thanks to everyone and hopefully in a few months ill have made a lot more progress on it.

So here it is, i've also included some pictures of it in the new garage, I finished installing the rubber floor today as well as giving it a tidy.

The new floor is so much more comfortable to work on. The main reason for getting it was because i was sick of all of the concrete dust, which as soon as a tool touched the ground, that was it, you were covered in the stuff.

But i'm now more than willing to kneel and sit on the floor to work which i would never have done before. I can also find all of my tools when they are dropped as they stand out well on the grey and finally it stops me from staining the floor if i spill oil etc (as its a rented house).

All in it cost me £188 which i think is worth it for a floor which is going to last a good few years.

I've discovered that a few of my wheel studs are damaged (the threads have rusted away). So I've decided to just replace the lot, as if one has rusted away it means the others can't be far away and im not a fan of the thought of my wheel nuts falling off while driving round a corner .

Does anyone know the method for removing a refitting studs and also where the best place to buy them from?

I think the studs have small splines on them and are pressed in if memorry serves me right. I know they are a buga to get out with out bending the hub and getting the new ones to grip again can also be a PIA. Good luck!

The studs come out no problem if you put the hub against something solid like a vice and you can replace them by using a wheel nut and some washers to pull it back in but use the flat side of the nut or tap them back in with a hammer its no big deal.

Ford dealers still stock them as they tend to fit all fords ,I have just replaced some on the rear of a Mondeo.

There are plenty of new wheel studs available .... I guess this is the sort of thing you'll need to find Ford Wheel Studs

Just make sure you get metric ones though.

I normally support the hub on the corner of my very large vice & give them an almighty twat with a club hammer ( Hitting it hard & square is the trick )
If you dont fancy that job, I am sure that a local garage or engineering shop will press them out for you.

I usually pull the new ones in with a couple of washers & a wheel nut .... Grease the washers, place over the stud & then do the wheel nut up so as it pulls the new stud home ( Wheel nut flatside toward the hub )

Sometimes you'll find them very tight, if so, it is probably best to have them pressed out.

I'll be ringing around my local motorfactors and ford dealers to try and find a good price. I think I'll try to remove all of the studs first before buying some more. As for all i know i'll nacker a wheel hub and end up buying a new hub with some decent studs in it

I'll let you all know how I get on.
