Default non transferable registration & engine no.

My V5 has arrived so i can sort out some road tax and track down the previous owner.

Do the words 'non transferable registration mark' on a V5 mean that I won't be able to transfer a private plate onto the car or just that i cant transfer that existing reg number onto any other vehicle ?

(It's an age related plate, not a Q.)

I was surprised to see the engine number listed as 'not known' as I'd assumed it was essential. It's the first time ive seen a V5 for the car but I'm presuming it must have been without an engine number since the car was built back in 2004.
Would it provde any advantage to get this updated with the engine number now ?

As far as I am aware you cannot put a private plate on an age related or a Q
and it would be beneficial getting an eng No back onto the v5 if purely for identification

Non transferable means that that reg can't be put on another car.

You should be able to put a REG on the car though as far as I believe.

You can replace an age related plate with another age related plate of the same age or older. But as Q is indeterminate age you can only put another Q on.

What K4KEV says.

Age related plates are issued where the original number has been transfered such as on a lot of classics
Q plate not transferable.
Kitcar registered as a new car will have a transferable number as will any new car.
