Default disaster strikes again

So,

im in the garage admiring my handy work, when i walk past my car with a piece of plyboard and smack into one of my bonnet catches. I used long rivets to go through the side panel into the chassis rail on all but the one i hit(ran out and used a short rivet, so it only went into the side panel itself). Sods law eh? so the result is a big nasty hole in my side panel. I was thinking the only way to fix it would be to screw a small plate onto the side panel into the chassis rail to fix the latch to, but i though id ask you guys if theres a better fix.

before disaster...

after disaster...

On an happier note, iv started wiring the lighting in and my dashboard is all but complete. Although im becoming like mr miagi, engine in engine out......
