Default Diff alignment

I'm having a bad day trying to line up the engine mounts. I'm struggling to line up the gearbox with the diff. I've centered the diff between plates SB4 but the diff flange centre is not in the centre of the transmission tunnel . Is this correct or do I move the diff over to the driver side.
In a nutshell should the prop run exactly down the centre of the transmission tunnel ?
Phew !!

Powler,

Now I like to give a full answer but I am 200miles from my build.

When I trial fitted my engine, gearbox and diff the diff flange was in the centre of the transmission tunnel.

Hope that helps.

Cheers Ginge

Thanks lads,

I've just remeasured the diff and I got it all wrong. It is in the middle. Apologies, just another senior moment. It did give me a chance to look at Ginges build. I prefer your engine mounts to the ones I've just made.

Peter.

my diff is terribly our of line with my gearbox, mainly due to my badly drilled diff mounts, im going to slot the diff mounts horizontally, and the diff brackets vertically so i can adjust the diff as much as i need to.

I had a nightmare fitting my diff, it took me hours to get it right. The checks I did on mine were - check level of output flanges (ie both at same height), check output shaft central in trans tunnel and check output flange square to chassis. I don't think it has to be perfect and doubt it was in the donor car but getting things spot on at this stage can save a lot of tears later. Take your time, check and double check and it will come out fine.
