Default sierra propshaft wanted. any suggestions of where to look

as per the title

no car breakers in my area, looked further afield and they all laugh when you mention sierra

what else might fit my diff? other end isnt a problem as I will be modifying it anyway as its running from a bike engine

escort? capri?

my diff is a 7.5" 3.92 non LSD bolt on shafts if that helps anyone?

I actually only need about 18" from the back end of the shaft.

Tony,

I have a prop from a 1.8cvh sat on the drive - doing nowt.

Can I ask why you wouldn't want to invest in a new one, that would be made to suit, be clean, painted and balanced.

I don't think many people would like to have something rotating that fast next to their legs that wasn't done properly.

Not critising your abilities, just highlighting a potential danger. Some home made ones have failed! I'm assuming your modifying it yourself.

PM me if your interested.

Hi, thanks for the concern, but I have done a good few prop and driveshafts, and not only am I 100% happy with it, but I cant afford the cost of having one made anyway

I did speak with a place a few months back, but they couldnt help, other problem is that £200+ as I was quoted is way beyond my means at the moment. and that was a guesstimate, guy said that they would only use new parts, I enquired and the UJ from the engine on the Kawasaki lump is over £300 on its own new, with a 17 week wait!

the worst case scenario of my prop mod is the welding fails, and it wont!, but if it did, then I would just lose drive, one would spin inside the other and thats it.

as mines a bike engined trike build, the prop isnt near me.

anyhow I took different route home this evening to drop someone off and went past a house with couple of hotrod/bangers outside, one was a sierra

went and knocked on door, he had a prop laid in front garden, and gave it to me to get it out of his way

happy bunny I am, tomoro get on the lathe and start turning down some bar stock to adapt the 2 props together
