Cheers guys, was just rather down I used to be able to weld really well, but that was 20 years ago!

I have borrowed a sealey 130 turbo xt, I have just realised I have 0.6 wire! I have been doing some welds on 1.5mm box and not getting penetration.

I am going to hit ebay for a helmet and try to "borrow" a co2 bottle from the pub

Will cut my welds up and post some photo's, and hit mig welding forums a bit more...... Must learn patience too!

I think you definitely just need more practise. As you said you could weld 20 years ago, so what's changed?

I really wasn't the best welder when I started welding my chassis earlier this week (they were strong welds, just looked like pigeon shit ). But over the past 2 days I have gradually gotten better and better and I am now producing some lovely looking welds and I think it's such a satisfying feeling.
