Hi all, looking at seats to fit the roadster and i can see this style seems popular: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GRP-Black-Bucket-Seats-Robin-Hood-Kit-Car-Race-Rally-Track-Pair-New-Style-/290756148516?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43b26abd24:(
But just a bit concerned that they won't fit as they are 445mm wide but the space in the roadster is only 450mm wide and that's before you fit 2mm or so plate on the tranny tunnel and not to mention seat belts?

They fit in my build with plenty of room to spare

Are you building a sierra based car or an escort based car?
The space eitherside of the trans tunnel should be 470mm and these seats are 445mm
I believe several have used these as they are a copy of the old 'fabbyglass' Triton seats which were made for the Haynes roadster.

Where do you get 470mm from? From the book it's 451.5mm either side, I'm Doing the Seirra cassis as per book?

The space between the rails is approx 450 in a standard book chassis (give or take a mm) but don't forget that you get some leeway in hanging over the outer rails - unless you decide to trim the inside of the sides of the car...
I would suspect those seats will fit fine, in Davids photo there seems to be loads of room.
And £6.95 for delivery is excellent - I was quoted £80 for a pair of similar seats to be shipped within the UK by RoadTrackRace (who sell MEV kits)...!

There is loads of room either side for mine and my chassis is for a mx5 so the tunnel removes some of the drivers space (the differential input shaft is slightly offset). They come in the nicest box. The postage is better than 6.95. If you order 2 the postage is free.
You do need to mount them on runners as they haven't got flat bottoms. If you look on the site they also sell precut self adhesive pads for about £30.00 . The runners are available through the same site as well for a decent price.

On page 38 total width 1118mm minus trans tunnel 178mm = 940 divide by 2 = 470mm. Simples
Dave Bolam has them fitted and they are used by others.

Ah but if you look the 1118 is to the outer edges so that's another -25mm either side!

 If you look at the widest point of the seat and its position in the chassis then there are no tubes in the area boundered by TR3, U4, BR5 and D7 so you have the full width of the chassis all the way out to the inside of the ally skin that goes on the outside of the chassis sides - 1118mm
Further the seats are 445mm and the space in the chassis is 470mm
470mm - 445mm = 25mm So they fit even if the chassis tubes were in that area - Point!
As shown in Dave Bolams picture they fit and plenty of others have fitted them but if you are concerned then don't use them
