Dodgy suspension & shock absorber brackets

Hello all, I have been on the forum for quite some time but have not posted before, I have managed to find solutions by reading through your excellent posts but have felt I had nothing to contribute. I now have a problem that I can not find a solution to, and may be a warning to others. I purchased a set of suspension and shock absorber brackets on ebay, from some one I won't name here, I had a lot of agro getting them, several emails and several weeks later they arrived. I was so pleased to receive them I did not think to check them. I am now trying to fit them on my chassis and find that the hole centres are 2-3mm further out from the base of the bracket they the should be, resulting in the threaded rod of the jig bending. Can any one tell if I can still use these, or do I need to scrap them and buy new from a reputable supplier. Oh this bloke I got them from has been mentioned on the forum, after I bought mine, and not very favourably.

If your brackets are +/- 2-3mm you should be able to tune your jigs by that much to make them work with your chassis, as long as the holes are both square to each other and the base of the bracket it should be ok.

Thanks for your reply, all the holes seem to be the same and square to the base of the bracket so its just a case of adjusting the jig to allow the brk'ts to sit comfortably on the chassis without bending the threaded rod? That's a relief, but I will check them all and make sure this time:) thanks again.

All the brackets need to be parallel to each other and to the pair above/below themselves you should not be bending any thing to get them to fit.

Well if his initials are DG then you won't find a single person here who would use the company.

If they are all uniform then the final result should nto be a problem althought it would add ~6mm to the rear track unless you compensate on the wishbones.

Thanks TT spot on with the supplier. I have taken Tallons (Phill ?) and adjusted the jig as they are all the same.:o

To be fair to the guy, he's not all bad.

He's no ripper, and if you look through past posts here and locostbuilders you'll see there's many happy customers.

I've had chassis brackets, diff plates which were all good. I would buy again to be honest.

I'm pretty sure one of the biggest suppliers on this forum (Saturn, which is no longer) got there brackets from this supplier. So in all likely hood there's tons of his bits happily fitted to roadsters.

Just noticed the initials sorry, yip GTS are to be well avoided.

I've never seen them selling haynes bits on Ebay. Only Rogue and Talon :confused: .

You are right will 08, I should not condemn a supplier on the basis of one transaction. I did not actually mean to do that, I was trying to point out that I did not check the parts were correct which was a stupid thing to do especially as I was not going to use them immediately. I think we have all worked out who he is and it has been a long time since he was mentioned, I hope he has sorted out his delivery problems etc, maybe I was just unlucky.

As twin said your right about the supplier, there's been tons of unhappy customers, especially on locostbuiders. So people should be aware of them.

The guy i was talking about has had some bad feedback on here recently, i thought u were talking about him.
