picked up my landrover mounts today. first thing that struck me was the threaded sections on either side aren't very long, 15mm at a guess.

my plates on the chassis are 6mm, which doesn't leave much space for a nyloc on the u underside. what has everyone else done to secure these? tap a thread into the plate? weld a nut on the underside? or do nylocs fit?

Hmm, mine had threads 30 or at least 25 mm long:

I've got 7 or 10 mm of thread sticking out of a nyloc nut.

Mine have 20mm and came with nuts washers and spring washers from these guys (http://britishparts.co.uk/products/5825-engine-mount-STC434) which was a bonus and they fit fine.

looks like I need to measure up, I just glanced at them and assumed they looked rather on the short side... been busy since, dragged the missus out to the local landrover suppliers on weds lunch time when she was in the early stages of labor, she's since had our first child so the mounts are still in the boot of the car!

well, there wasn't much else going on so I suggested a little drive out to take her mind off things and, 'oh, that's handy, I could do with a part from a Landy for my car, didn't know there was a parts place out here, etc, etc!'

Yes, we had a rough few hours before they whipped out our baby, who turned out to be a boy, mum has just got to have a few days in hospital to recover, in between doing all the nappy changing I'm going through the car builder solutions catalog doing a shopping list :-)

By recover, you mean 'top up on sleep' because you're not going to get much of it over the next few months! Glad to hear that she and the little'un are doing OK and congratulations :)

gave the mounts a quick measure this morning, just over 22mm of thread protruding so I reckon they'll be ok. shows how bad my visual reckoning is...
