Roll Bar

Hi everyone

Is anyone supplying a roll bar? I only need the main hoop, already got the plates and I'll cut/weld my own harness/rear stay tubes.

Can you do me a roll bar in 47.6mm OD x 2.64mm wall CDS Tube rather than ERW?

I am planning on making my harness tube, rear stay tubes (and probably a cross-brace in the main hoop) from the same stuff as my local steel stockists can only supply in 6m lengths.

Should I go for 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 diameter? 18g, 16g or 14g wall thickness?

I spoke to a former SVA/IVA tester and he said he personally would like to see the seat belt mounts be able to lift the weight of the car.
His personal view,not that of VOSA !

Make them overly strong you wont go wrong.

After much internet searching I found a company called Wisbech Engineering Ltd, based in Norfolk. They made me a main roll hoop from 41mm diameter 2.6mm wall thickness CDS tube (41mm is the largest they can bend). They also supplied me with three lengths of 35mm diameter 3.5mm wall thickness tube to make the harness support and rear stay tubes.

Very friendly people, top quality work and fast turn-around (ordered it Tuesday, arrived this morning). Total cost including labour and P&P £169. Highly recommended if you're looking for a CDS roll bar as opposed to ERW!

One question however - I have enough length on my rear stay tubes to take them from the centre of each corner of the main hoop, rather than in line with the chassis rear stay bracket mounts (as per the book). I am considering doing this as it looks like it would resist side loading better, and I am thinking that I might upgrade my roll bar into a roll cage at some point - in which case my rear stay tubes would then line up with the tubes connecting front roll hoop to rear roll hoop. Any input/opinions on this please?
