MX5 Engine bay fuse box

Afternoon guys. Been a little busy lately, so progress has slowed a little on the build, but im starting to run the 'veins and arteries' of the car. Now the Loom doesn't scare me too much, but I have a question regarding the engine bay fuse/relay box.

Can the main fuses and relays be fitted 'outside' of the box to make the engine bay look a little neater (i.e. on the ali bulkhead)? or has everyone else mounted the original fuse box in the engine bay?

I decided to replace the original fuses and relays and stuck the new ones under the dash out of sight (quite an old photo, I've since wrapped all the wiring):

Yep, that's right.

It started off as an MX5 loom, but I did end up replacing quite a lot of it!

Ah, forgot about the main fuse. I replaced that with a 100A fuse next to the battery.
Everything else uses a blade fuse under the dash.

I've driven over 1000 miles so far...
Only 50 or so were in the dark with the headlights on though.

Reason im asking so much is the fuses in the engine bay are 'PAL' slow blow fuses. Did you use the blade equvilent in the fusebox?

Another question (sorry to be so inquisitive!!) but where did you get those relays from? they would neaten up my engine bay no end!!

Are they all a 'standard' relay, or is there something special about them?

I just used whatever fuses I had lying around :) I wouldn't get too hung up on what type they are as long as they have a sensible current rating.

The relays aren't particularly special, just standard 30 or 40A automotive ones. Lots of relay manufacturers make them in that form factor.
I think I already had one or two and got the rest off ebay.

That bodywork looks really nice where did you get that from? And what 's the front section like?

It's a Thruxton GT.

The body will fit on a Haynes chassis.

Oh man, I am really jealous ! Tried3 calling Sebring about the healey 3000 replica, but the shop is for sale, and. No more orders are being taken. Can't afford a real healey, so this was my next project. Well gutted:(
