Hi,
I've been cleaning and repainting my gearbox and my differential. During the process, because of moving the parts all the ways around, up side down, etc., I have lost some oil. I would like to top up the oil levels (I bought the right oil for the gearbox, and the right one for the diff too), but before doing it, I would like to be sure of what I'm doing because the service and repair manuals I have are not very specific about that, especially when it comes to the MT75.

So, could you first please confirm me that the plugs marked with the arrows are the filling holes.

Secondly, to top up the oil level, I think I have to refill until the level reaches the lower edge of the filling hole, in both the gearbox and diff. Is that correct?

I'm planning t use a syringe with a piece of hose to refill them progressively, but perhaps some of you have better tips for me ?

Again, thanks again by advance for the advices.

yes and yes.

the oil should have a filling tube. just squeeeeeeeeez the bottle till you get it flowing back out and wait till it stops.

note: the dif filler plug can often be RFT.

Thank you TT and Wim for the answers :)

No TT, unfortunately my oil boltles did not have filling tubes, so I used a (clean) grease pump to refill. That was quite easy!

Yes Wim, I bought the special MT75 oil for the gearbox (an equivalent actually, but I checked it was the right one as I understood MT75 can accept only one specific kind of oil) and I bought transmission oil 75W90 for the diff.

I completely refilled the diff, and not only topped-up, because I had to drain it after cleaning it. I don't know where I read it, but I'm sure I did, that the volume is between 0.8L and 0.9L. But after refilling it with one litter of oil, I still don't reach the lower edge of the filling hole. Do you think I should add more oil until the supposed right level, or 1L is enough?

Thank :)

Various oils can be used in the MT75, but I have long since forgotten.

It's more confusing on the 4x4 boxes as different oils are used in the maincase and transfer box. F...ked that one up once and had to drain the transfer box..

Diff level needs to be done with shafts in place.

Ahhhh, Ok ! :o

Thank you Paul, very good to know! I plan to fit the diff, shafts, rear wishbones and brakes this week-end, so I'll check the level when fitted.

Thanks a lot for the info :)
