Been having problems with the ZVH, so I've decided to build a zetec for the car, first hurdle is where to the pipes on the picture go to?

2 to the fuel pressure regulator on my setup, the others probably brake servo and fuel vapour recirculation, you can plug them.

Thanks alga, how have you set up the breather system?

Yes. I have a small filter on the valve cover breather. The bottom part of the system is standard: a metal tube coming around the back of the engine connected to the PCV valve and the intake manifold with short pieces of rubber tubing.

The breather on the valve cover (air intake for the PCV system) leaks oil a bit, I suspect because of surges during cornering, so I plan on adding some catch can there.

I wasn't sure about 2. What is the fuel vapour recirc system actually for?

I'm also planning on using a zetec on standard inlet and look exactly the same. I'm guessing from a focus as I think the mondeo inlet is slightly different.

Recycle fuel vapor through carbon canister back to fuel system so that it is not lost to atmosphere.

The one below 3 is the one that goes to the fuel pressure regulator.

So I can block off 1?
I will link 2 to the ecu
That just leaves 3....do I need to put a recirculation jobbie on?
Also I'm planning on retaining the box on the front of the engine as it doesn't fowl anything an not putting a hole in the back is this a good plan?

Oh yeah. Not sure about 3 then. I will have a look at mine when I get a chance but mine will probably be missing as yours is.
As far as I'm aware the fuel recirculation thing can be blanked off... Got me thinking now though. .

think 3 must be the fuel recirc the hose on mine is stamped with "caution fuel flammable not repairable"

while I was in the scrap yard yesterday I had a quick look at a focus inlet and both 2 and 3 seem to go to the fuel recirc thingy so they should be ok to blank.

Cool:) thanks for that! Going to use 1 for the ACT sensor, block off 3 and use 2 to go to the ECU.
I assume it will be ok just to put a mini filter on the cam cover breather?

I take it I'm gonna have to put cat on it too:confused:

The cam cover breather i think would originally go to the air filter box. Im thinking it may be an MOT failure if venting to atmosphere even with a filter on, im assuming it somehow needs to go back into the inlet.

Hi,
Just a tip about the cat. Most motorbike exhausts have an integrated cat nowadays, including the nice aftermarket ones (carbon, stainless steel, etc.). It can avoid the need of fitting either an ugly cat on your exhaust line, or a very expensive better looking one :p .

I needed a cat with my Sierra DOHC, and I fitted a BMW K1300R exhaust a friend gave me. I'm still not sure about the emission test, but as it has to do with the year of the car, it should pass. No way to know about it beforehand anyway :eek:

The cam cover breather just connects to the larger connector below 2.

The larger connector below 2 goes around the front to the standard metal crankcase breather on the front

OK I see. But how did you attach the front of the bonnet to the chassis? Do you mean that now, the front has no attachment point?
