Hi just been looking at my steering column and taking on board the importance of a bearing to support this more rigidly. I was planning on using the original bush for the column through cp 16 and an additional bearing.
But know think might as well grind off the plate the column goes through and just stick with the extra bearing attached to some extra plate .would that be acceptable?
Cheers

I welded a bit of 10mm plate (had it in my scrap bin) to the inside of the pedal area to mount the bearing to and lost the triangle bit. I also upped the plate above the pedal box from 1mm to 3mm. What a pita it was to get the 1mm plate off
They are on eBay for £5 odd, search slfl25

I got my CP16 made in 3mm plate, and used the bearing above bolted straight to it.

With the 3mm plate and that bearing, the column is rock solid - You can lift the chassis with it!
