Yeah, I'll probably be there. I'm quite easy to spot - short, wearing a black jacket and usually a black hat as well.
I like black, it hides the oil :D

I haven't posted much on here as I haven't started my build yet, haven't even decided what components or chassis flavour I'm going for yet. Anyway I've managed to wangle a work trip down from the far North of Scotland and I'm hoping to be there at some point on Monday afternoon.

I was thinking the Sunday but seems most people are on the Monday is it big enough to spend two days there?? Never been before.
Went to donnington last year and was a little disappointed!

Donny is much smaller than Stoneleigh. A lot of what you end up seeing at Stoneleigh can depend on the weather as so much of it is outside. Last year, the weather was very nice and there was lots to do and see. The year before, the weather was awful, there were relatively few club cars and I got around the whole show much quicker. The weather looked fair when I looked at the forecast earlier.

I'll be there on the Sunday, I'm hoping to get a good glut of work done on the car on Monday :)

I will be there on the Monday with the kit. Not quite sure where to park it when I get there. Last year parked next to a burger van as midland kit and sports car club stand didn't materialise.
It's a nice run to stoneleigh, some nice winding "b" roads from Tamworth to Cov

Today was good, lots to see, it took up a full day. Weather was pretty good, not too hot. The wallet went on a bit of a diet too, apparently it wanted to shed a few pounds :D

Saw a few members' cars in the club section too, looking good chaps :)

Plenty of support from the manufacturers, you knew when you were approaching the MEV/RTR stand!

All in all, I think I got some enthusiasm back :)

Went on Sunday and as promised wore a bright yellow polo shirt and not one person said hello, did get plenty of looks though.

Much better than Donny.

Meant to add a smiley at the end of it :D I didn't make it over to the pitch until about 15:00 today, only flew into Heathrow at 11.00, by the time I got my bags, got the hire car, battled the M40 I arrived about 14:30. My first kit car show and there was some stunning machinery on display. Just a pity I couldn't have been earlier to meet some folk. Anyway it was a bonus to make it at all as I'm down here with work.

Had a great day on Sunday, went mainly for items for the Cobra this year but did get a few bits and bobs fore the roadster. Got an inlet manifold, Edelbrock carb and a big chrome filter for the rover V8 posted to home for £620 which I thought was a bargain as the cheapest I have found on the internet was £820 plus postage.

I went on Sunday - but had forgotten what colour T-s to look out for!

First kit car show I'd been to - interesting stuff there and I found it helpful to get a really close up look at how people have put their cars together - I came back with about 60 photos - hardly any of them actually showing a complete car - mostly closeups of rivets, fixings and cable routing!!!

Plenty of enthusiasm regained - and I am now far less concerned about some of the issues of fine accuracy that had been troubling me - some of the panel gaps I saw were massive when you got close up - but the cars looked fine from a few feet away!

Still can't believe the replica Porsche 917 in the main hall - fantastic idea though - although probably best focus on the Roadster for now! The Porsche 550 spyders looks excellent too...

I was there on the Sunday and spent most of the day looking for a club sign saying 'Haynes Roadsters'. Now i see why i could not find our club, it is labeled as a locost club.
O well, i will have my car on that stand next year :-)

I am going and taking a Billy Connolly impersonator and a helicopter pilot with me as back up on Sunday. Also delivering some seats I sold on ebay, meeting someone I've bought some things off, with luck I'll be able to have a look round :)
Next year I want to take my car :)

Sorry I missed you. Was only there for three hours. Spoke to an Ultima owner who was selling his car or his miss was, he didn't seem to happy, £45k. Then into hall A-E quick run round there, popped my head into the cars for sale hall, not much there.

Quick watch of the Westy's being ragged around then finally found show halls 1 and 2, spoke to a guy who built a roaster back in 2012 and had since built 3 other more expensive cars and was now doing key turn builds for MEV's Aston Martin replica which looks ace.

I was then stopped dead in my tracks by this......

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7776/16741806884_8936b335c0_o.jpg

After staring and drooling for 20 minutes I finally dragged myself away spoke to westfield about the s2000 car and dimensions and then had a long chat with Canems ECU's and the Road Runner Racing guys. Some clever mx5 engine tricks going on there and the SR2 chassis design is on another level better than caterham or westfield in my opinion. Bought a QR boss from rally design quick look at the show stopping Supercharged Ultima, more drooling and then I was heading back to the car.

So many 7 types it was a bit overwhelming. There are some M3 donor 7's there but with the enormous wheels, look like you could go off road with the ground clearance. A lot of haynes roadster look a like chassis there too.

Nice bit of kit isn't it. Being a BMW fan (don't judge) I was very keen on GKD. All the stuff just plugs and plays with the BMW OEM parts. Pretty cool. Plus M3 or maybe even V8 power. New trousers anyone?

Gotta say that there were very few haynes roadsters there. Locost Owners pen had one, very nice, roadster in it. Is Locost dead? Sleeping maybe?

I think mine was the only Roadster in the halls. Orange roll cage, on SA Motorsport's stand opposite the CKC stand. Camouflaged Westfield next to it.

I think every one of us stopped and drooled at that one.
Pork chop, came over to see you but you were awal, had a good chat with two other guys on the stand.
I am a member of the SHACC Shropshire alternative car club and met up with the two main people from the club to be told that they would be driving home in the CKC Beritini as they had bought it from them.
And yes i did spend too much money, seeings as i was only going for a few little things, like billet lamps at £18 a time 3 off, but god they do look good.

;)

Oh right that was you, I did have a look at that as I recognised it as an SSC mx5 chassis. Uh if i'd of known!
