View Full Version : Exhaust header mockup

Hi all,

I am just working on mocking up the exhaust headers for my Rover v8. Following a couple of weeks of googling, I am working with 40mm OD plumbing pipe since most of the pages I found said that is the diameter that the metal headers should be. I've made the merge collector with a 50mm exit hole but that's not a fixed dimension right now (just how it happened to turn out)

Basically, I'm hoping the collective genius of the forums can give me some input on whether this header design looks ok? I'm not looking for equal-length headers or something that'll give me uber performance, but equally I'm not looking for something that's going to make the engine run really badly.

Cheers,
Kev.

not really done a lot with exhausts but when I messed about with minis both mini and ford engine when I made up the manifolds and system was told to keep it flowing and no sharp bends . I know its mocked up with whats available but the 90's are a nono.
not much help but good luck

Looks pretty good, but I would take the 1st pipe on the left and move that 45 to where the bottom 90 is and then eliminate the two 90's, then do the same for the 2nd pipe too just to smooth things out a little.

Have a look at this thread. It might be easier than plastic and if you need to see what it looks like just put the foam lagging on.

Edit. Its all in a mixed up order from when the forum was screwed but I am sure you will get the idea.

Just to wrap this thread up (sorry it took so long!) in the end I decided to give this job over to someone who has the right tools and experience - I sent my car over to Zorstec last week, and hopefully it should be ready but the time I get back from my holiday next week..

Will post photos when it's back.
