Oil seal at g/box end to prop flange, check the shiny bit on the old prop and that's how far it has sat in the rear bush of the box.

Any good prop manufacturer will account for this.

Change the gearbox oil seal as well. It's easy when the engine is out but a right pita when it's in and plumbed. The type9 one is only about £7 on ebay.

I would say you need about 30 to 40 mm of shiney bit out of the gearbox to allow you to get the prop in and out and to allow for the small movements in the engine

Shiny bit sits in a bearing bush, the further it is in the more bearing surface is used, and the diff no longer moves as in a live axle and that was the point of having that sliding joint.

I left a distance on 25mm. Easier to remove and allows for any small discrepancy in manufacture or final build.
