Hi All
Would some one please confirm the Haynes roadster springs length, according to the book the dampers are suppose to be 13" open and 9" closed but what should the length of the springs be?

Consensus seems to be 14/10 socks are fine (the book talks about a 1inch extension on 13/9 shocks). Have a search for old posts, it has been discussed a lot on here.

thanks for looking in I am not sure what you mean by socks ?

My main problem is I have bought the spring & the shocks from damper tech, but there is absoltely no play on the front.

Think that's a typo mate, meant to be shocks.....14" open and 10" closed.

What engine and spring poundage are you using? If they are adjustable for damping have you got them wound fully hard?

Hi!
Check this post where the topic has been discussed along the 3 past years  .

http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=7246

Don't bother about the beginning (it was a long time ago), where they say 13'' open. Shocks absorbers on a "Book" Haynes roadster definitely need to be 14'' or 13'' + a 1'' extension, open. Closed: 9'' seems OK, but GAZ SHOCKS users (like me) have 9.5'' because their 14'' open shock only comes in 9.5"" closed.

Spring rates and lengths are in the last post (from me) of the same thread. This is a starting point, and the rate might of course be changed according to the use/weight/etc. of the car.

Hope this will help :)
