Vodou engine mounts

Sorry for all the questions, i will figure this all out and get started soon.

So iv got the book (well had both for ages now!) and iv down loaded the saturn and vodou plans for using a mx5 as a donor. The saturn plans are more complete but just wondering if there was ever any engine mount plans for the vodou as they seam to be missing?

To make things very simple for your self just use the engine mounts that come bolted the engine it will put the sump 40mm below the chassis rail. Put a plate that spans between BR1/BR8 + BR2/BR9, add full length gussets to each side between that and a contact plate set at 35'. It took me around 2 hours to make a pair for mine or around 3/4 of day with household tools.

I made these using 50x100 box 3mm thick. I welded plates to the chassis to bolt these mounts to. You can get the engine in just the right position and height if you do this way.

Thank you, have you slotted both the base bolt fittings and the engine mount fittings too?

From memory I think I did on one side. As they can be removed from the frame You can remove them and adjust them while the engines hanging in the air. Once the height and position is finalised you can then drill through the baseplates for the final mounting position and bolting down. Then move on to the gearbox mounting. Mx5 engine positioning is tight for height and the far end of the gearbox so the flexibility is essential.

Possibly, once the engines in the frame your instinct as to what needs doing first will kick in, it all depends I suppose, on your priority and what other parts and bonnet you'll be using.
