My youngest chopped the top of his finger off this morning so was taken to hospital where you think folk would run round to sort the poor lad out......yeah right it took 9 hours yep 9 hours before he actually got to surgery to have it sorted out and only 2 pain killers in all that time.!!!!
They lost his details....How typically dreckly!!!!!!

  I hope he is on the mend now fabby.

The casualty Dept at Treliske is an utter, utter disgrace. Allways has been since they closed the one at city.
Just think, they want to close all of the local a&e units. God help us if that ever happens. Treliske can't even cater for their own catchment area let alone the rest of the county.

Lets hope the young'un makes a good recovery.

Jeeze Mark, hope he is going to be ok!?!

You wouldn't get much better in Devon, I had an appendicitis for 4 weeks, 2 doctors visits and they said I had a "tummy bug" finally it burst at 3am in the morning, but they didn't get me into surgery until 8pm the following day, 2 operations (one of which we had to go privately for...) and 15 weeks off work later and not even a letter of apology??

Makes me not want to pay my taxes...;)

Hows the lad doing, hope he is on the mend. Whilst I'm not leaping to defend the services at the Casualty Dept at Treliske, my own experences is that the staff do a great job under very difficult circumstances. The dept is under funded and grosly understaffed, how the people in charge expect to cater for the region with the amount of space/beds available in asualty is beyond me. And as for wasteing money it's a joke, my Mum was admitted to St Ives hospital after a fall and a 4hour wait at Treliske. after being there for a couple of days she suffered a loss of blood pressure so the hospital staff phoned Kernodoc:mad: (why no Doctor on duty in St Ives) they advised calling an Ambulance (surprise surprise), so off I trundle to Treliske to meet her and find out what was going on, 6 hours later she is back in an ambulance and on her way back to St Ives after being told that there was nothing wrong. Also had to pay over £14.00 just to park the car.

We will find out a bit more today because they kept him in,but he was laughing and joking at our "dreckly piss taking rants" so not doing too badly but the place is a complete shambles then there is the "parking" you could say it's a tad on the expensive side...!

I agree with you 100% Rich

In my eagerness to have a rant, I forgot to give due credit to the vast majority of staff who are indeed, working in near impossible conditions. :o

I have been no stranger to hospital stays during the last few years and have recieved good care for the majority of the time. :)

Mark, I hope the lad is doing well and will be back home soon.
