Hi All,
I wondered if I could get some opinions on servicing for my 1999 Vectra SRi 2.0:
It currently has FSH with all bar one being carried out by Vauxhall, but as the car has just covered 94k, and with me wanting to channel funds into other things now ;) where do you guys stand on home servicing? Obviously I can service it perfectly well at home (or I wouldn't be building a car from scratch! :D ) and at a fraction of the cost, but will this significantly hurt the value? I'm inclined to think with this age and mileage, a nice wadge of receipts on top of an already comprehensive service record is just as good as a load of stamps in the book? I'm almost inclined to have a stamp made up for me so I can stamp the book myself, but don't know the implications of this? After all, you don't HAVE to undergo any formal training to set up a garage, and why should I be penalised for doing a job properly - at least when I change the filters I actually change them unlike some cowboys who take the air filter out, bang the dust out and then put it back!
What do you guys think? The cambelt/tensioners will need doing in a few thousand miles so I'm inclined to do the service myself and then pay someone to do that job for me?
Any suggestions welcome...
Stewart
