Has anyone used the e36 diff and axles in the roadster? Did you have to shorten the axles, or did you change the rear track?

I have a 2006 R1 engine, so am after a diff ratio below 3.5. The bmw has a good range of ratios and LSD's available, but I am concerned about how heavy it is.

I am in NZ, so there are almost no sierra's left here, and the 3.14 and 3.38 ratios are like hen's teeth!

Any help would be appreciated.

I would be quite interested in what you find in NZ as well.

A quick look on trademe shows bugger all sierra parts,

i was thinking Nissan silvia rear end like the frasers use but the popularity of drifting has made them quite expensive.

I haven't looked at BMW parts yet as i always beleived them to be expensive but compared to some of the japanese rear ends they may be viable.

I will check back on this thread with interest

I have gone with the nissan rear end. The silvia S13/14 diff has a 3.5 ratio as an option, wth 4.083, 4.1 and 4.3 commonly available. The lsd's cost about $100. There is also a number of different axle lengths....
A trip to the local BMW wrecker showed that there are very few different ratios available in NZ, and the lsd's go for about $1000!!! Nissan it is.....
