Chaps,
Just to get the forum moving again and to settle something on my mind today, I think we should form a list of a recurring theme on our forum.
This is my list to start things going in my unjustified reasons.
Messy V Clean
AshG - He has carpet in his workshop.....
Spikehaus......You can eat your dinner of that floor (Quote Ronnie)
DaddyD - Tool hanging on wall in pictures?
?
?
Handy Andy - Unknown but self confessed not so tidy
Les G? -
Bonzo - Storing too much stuff & welding on benches like me, hehe?
Fabby - Unknown territory or land?
This is just to start the top 20!:D

Generally I am trying to squeeze as much crap into as small a space as possible, with a good 3 or 4 jobs on the go at the same time. Normally pile up the work area with all the tools I need until the job is done. Start the next day thinking 'what a s**t hole' then spend 10 minutes tidying up in a hal hearted attempt before doing something more interesting like making stuff!

TJ has to tidy the garage every single time he goes in it unless he has his motorbike in bits everywhere then it a different story

Mine is sort of not too bad, I do get visitors/potential customers from time to time so can't let it get too bad. Sometimes when I'm not sure what to do next I have a bit of a tidy up.
I'd like to get better organised, though. I've got quite a big workshop and it was very cold last winter, so what I plan to do is to build an insulated working area within the larger unit. I would need to get even tidier if that was to work, though.

Well in my defence a tidy workshop would mean I don't do anything...:o

Hi,
the tools on the wall thing, at the time it was the only place I could find to put anything without losing anything.
I'm sure as the build progresses it will look less cluttered - doesn't help having white goods in there and all the sh*te that goes with having girls (prams, bikes, scooters, skateboard etc).
I'll have to move to bigger house witha bigger garage before the NEXT build??? Or move in to spikes workshop!!!!!
I'll just have to keep re-arranging the garage every 5 min!!
All part of the fun of building!

I've been climbing over things and losing tools for months now, so this week I decided that i wouldn't do any more work on the car unti I tidied up the garage. After about 4 hours of tidying it's about 1 third done.
I'm looking forward to getting back to work in a nice tidy garage - as soon as i've finished tidying it that is.

If a workshop or garage is too tidy you have not been making the most of your time in it. I worked for a sheet metal shop for 5 yrs and we only cleaned up once a month as we where just too busy. The boss said I don't pay skilled men (£12-22hr) to clean, I pay them to weld and fabricate. Which is why I'm waiting till I can afford to take on some staff to run round with a broom or shovel and make me some sodding coffee!

My garage is a total mess, clean it now and then and it's a mess again within minutes. Also I've lost 4 19mm sockets in there somewhere.

I do try to tidy up as I go, but I usually end up with a huge collection of tools on the bench.
I liberated the old kitchen cupboards and have a roll-cab tool box, but still seem to be running out of tool storage.
I haven't even put the build table in there yet either.
I must admit, it is quite nice when it's tidy, and you know exactly where to go to get just the right tool

Here here matey I use that as my excuse as well....but it's true, too clean just means you do bog all all day but tidy up for the sake of tidying up ;)
