wishbone jigs

I seem to remember one of the forum members was selling jigs made from wood for all the wishbones. I also recall seeing it for sale on e-bay.
Two questions - are they any good and can I still get my hands on one?

the company selling them are called armoto. i made one of my jigs out of wood. only problem was that you can only tac the bones. if you try and weld them in the jig it catches on fire ;)

Ash do you still have the slightly scorched Jigs.

I have started purchasing the wood, but would be willing to buy from you if easier.

sorry it went in the skip when i moved house. i just used a bit of off cut board i had laying around. the rest of the jigs i made out of metal at my college welding course. unfortunately once the wishbones were made i cut them up to make the engine mounts for the car.

There is a much easier way of making a steel jig that will do all wishbones and it uses less than 2mtrs of 25x25 and 500mm of 19x19. It's a basic rectangle made to the biggest wishbone that being the lower rear. Put your bush tubes in place on a flat surface and use the 19box as a straight clamp bar top and bottom. I use cheap G clamps as weld splatter tends to stick to the threads. As it's a backless jig you'll be able to turn the jig over and weld the other side with out unclamping it. For the top wish bones simply weld another tube lower down,clamp the bush tubes in place as before and tack the threaded tubes in place.

I was reading this over the past day or so.. Thinking this was the jigs for mounting the U-Mounts on the chassis :rolleyes:

Guys please forgive my stupidity.

I see the pictures for the rear upper and lower wishbone can be made via the Talonsport method (I must say very good idea).
I can buy two metres of 25mm box section from B&Q for £15 and some of their cheap G clamps.
My stupid question is can you do the same for the front, I know the top sections are angled but if you purchase the lower wishbone plates with the 10 degree bend will it still work?
You could tack weld the top of the A frame to the section of 25mm making the top of the rectangle, would this hold or would some other method of attaching it work?
If it did work, could you make the front upper wishbone frames the same way but now turn the top 25mm inwards by 8 degrees?

If i were you then i'd try and find a cheap steel supplier in your local area. I can pick up 6m of 25x25 ERW for £8 from my local one.

I think i'll defiantly be using that jig to make my wishbones, cheers Talon.
