Well, after fitting the new circuit board the little Axminster still didn't want to work.

A guy at work wants it for his son to CNC, so I have got back more than half what I paid for it, and I managed to get it at a serious discount as well (15% off paypal voucher:D)

It has been replaced with a proper lathe. Myford ML7. I pick it up Saturday and am well looking forward to it.

mmmmmmm nicey new tools

Oh, and I also have my eye on a vertical milling machine:eek: Good job I have an understanding girlfriend (she used to race a Caterham in formula woman:D)

Myford have just informed me that my lathe was built in 1947, the first year of production.

It's 34 years older than me!! And it works perfectly. Proper old school English tool.

T'was a nice email to get from them on a Monday morning

My Boxford CSB is around that age and I must say I'm very satisfied with it. I lack a bit of tooling though.

I salvaged a 100mm blacksmith's leg vice during my previous visit to the scrappy. I can't date it properly but I like to think it's probably early 1900's maybe even late 1800's - still works like a charm. I stripped it last weekend to refurbish it.

Nothing like old tools or tools you make yourself, in my book.
