The number one daughter wants a sat nav system, I haven't a clue what's good or not.

She needs a good basic system and it needs to be cheap because I'm paying for it!

Any reccomendations?

Cheers

Chris :)

Depends if you like the legal side of life Chris....

You can buy this sat nav for £50 and put any sat nav software you want on it, not the most legal of options in the world:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/161002

There is also a 4.3" widescreen satnav the same as the above for £8 more (i'd personally go for this one):

It is really really easy to get hold of and install the software you'd like e.g. TomTom, igo etc

Let me know if this is of any interest to you.

People will tell you get this and get that, but the bottom line is TomTom is the dogs wotsits, anyone who has had one would not go back to anything else, very easy to use. Idiot proof you might say!

Chris,

For what is worth, I have had a Tom Tom for 4 years now and have tried other people’s Garmans, Navmans etc and as has been mentioned previously I would stick with the Tom Tom.:) The model I have is intuitive and simple, like me!!:D and like me it needs up dating and is a little rough around the edges. :(

I have the Navigo from ebuyer (was £45) with tomtom 6 pda version on it...

Works very well my only gripes being it sometimes takes 2~4 minutes to find the satellites and doesn't work indoors. Don't know if this is common or not. Battery life is rubbish as well but all I do is keep the usb camera lead plugged in next to my pc to keep it charged up.

Other than that I use it in my Rover and the MNR as well and it does what it says on the tin.

Found my way from Frankfurt airport to my hotel many km away no problem, and back again!

I also use Tyre to plan blats and upload them into it..
