Since my last camera drowned (long story) I've been stuck with the terrible one in my phone. Looking at getting a new one.

I'm looking at this camera (http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/fujifilm_finepix_s1500_review/) , but was told by a friend to stay away from Fuji. This however is far away the best spec I can get for the money.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a Finepix S7000, not the same camera, but similar style.
Its a good compromise between a small handy point and click camera and a DSLR. I tend to use it in full auto mode, just point and click and it gives nice results. If I had the 'eye' for taking fantastic photos then I am sure I would find its limitations and need a DSLR, but for what I want its a nice camera. Well built, nice and weighty, but not too heavy.

for that kind of money i would say it will be ok. i have got a panasonic dmc tz3 for the garage and it takes nice pictures. im sure it will be better than most of those silly little point and click cameras.

After running into stock issues with the other camera I went and did a whole lot more research.
Came out with this one (http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/canon_powershot_sx120_is_review/)

Quite happy that I did the research, never thought a Canon could be had for that kind of money.

Once again comments & opinions welcome, nay requested.

Edit: I should stop researching now. Came up with this. (http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/sony_cybershot_dsc_h20_review/image_quality/)

I have a Panasonic TZ5, by far the best pictures from my point and go attitude, real good close ups and super pics in all light conditions. I'm not a photographic geniuse but get good shots just keeping it on the auto setting. ITdoes HD video as well which comes out good for not being a video camera..

Go get one!

Heres one I took earlier....

YIPPEEEEEE

I collected it an hour ago.
Ended up getting the Canon.
I absolutely LOVE this camera.
Will take some photies tomorrow to share. Did some "sand blasting" last night that I want to post about, wasn't worth it without photo's.

Some crafty editing there.

Looking for some way to shrink the photo's a bit. (Linux based)

As mentioned in a earlier post, I did some "sand" blasting. Basically a heath robinson device to spray the part in question with a lightly abrasive cloud of baking soda. I forget where I saw the idea, if anyone can point me back to it I will gladly credit the source. I think it was a VW forum where the poster developed the idea to clean carburetor's.

Here's the result of a very quick and incomplete test.

I'm quite impressed with the result, more than clean enough yet gentle enough not to change critical dimensions.

Land Locked,

Great pictures, photography is my second passion, if I wasn’t building a car I would be out taking pictures. I have done a course through the Army for 3 weeks so take a few for them as well. Doing group shots for significant army events raises some cash for the build as well.

I am in to photoshop as well as the picture shows, but there are other forums for that.

The Camera Never Lies!

That is awesome.

I plan to spend more time taking photo's now that I've got a good camera.

Send 6 of them out to the cold, damp workshop whilst I sit in front of the fire with me feet up ;) :D
