Help!

hi

this front frame is starting to make my head hurt :mad: did it wrong once and im determined not to make the same mistakes or different ones this time

so the thing is iv got all the pieces cut (taken my time) and they are all exactly as the book says they should be.

its the lining up im confused about between FF1 and the two uprights (FF2 & FF3) im not sure if they should be lined up with the front edge of FF1 or the ends of FF1 :confused:

any help much appreciated :)

Hi Jake,
not sure how you mean but if you have made the jig as per book then the FF2 & FF3 should position as per fig 4.5 on page 36 of the book,
this is slightly deceptive as the way the parts fit into the jig are a reverse of how the "mind" tells you how it goes together on the car.

try using some duck tape to join each part & then stand the frame up & you,ll see how it fits the main chassis.

once happy then place back into the jig, remove tape & tack weld each join, check everything again before fully welding the frame.

the outside of the front frame should line up with the bottom rails

What all so does'nt help is that the top tube length on one page says it should be 630mm and on another says it should be 627mm. Want to know why you'll need to put 2-3mm packer behind your suspension brackets? :rolleyes:

tis all sorted i was over-complicating things in my head (it does that to me sometimes :rolleyes: )

i found some pictures of someone elses which was shing the front suspension area and that showed me what i was doing wrong
