Well,

i,ve finally confirmed my mrs opinion of me ...............I,m a sad "git"....:D

here,s why.....

She thinks I,m a sad git cos i,m building my own Kit car (her description), she doesn,t "get it" , maybe something to do with the fact she doesn,t drive ,

But today i,ve confirmed her thoughts.....

As some of you may know, i spent quite a few years in the Merchant Navy working both on general cargo & container ships , served in the Falklands war on the hospital ship , then 6 yrs working on cruise ships.....

anyways....... i was trawling the "ebay" & came across this item number 300393411874 ,
basically its a 1000 piece jigsaw of the first cruise ship that i worked aboard, the SS Canberra, this jigsaw is in fact a collectors item so i thought i,d "bid" on it, & guess what????? i won the auction ,

best bit tho is i won the auction at 99p :D

I received the jigsaw today, opened it up & i,m amazed at the condition of it, its had the box opened but the bag containing the pieces is still sealed.........its over 30 yrs old

Maybe this is boring but here,s why i wanted it.........
The picture of the jigsaw is of the ship docked in Sydney, Australia under the harbour bridge, ( nothing strange in that you say )

BUT

the image of the puzzle is precisely how i saw the Canberra the first time, as i joined this ship in Sydney, at the same berth depicted in the puzzle.

I met my first wife onboard ( also a crew member ) in 1984, my family (me, wife & 2 kids) sailed as passengers on the very last cruise the ship did in 1997, my daughter had the very last birthday onboard the ship before she went to scrap,

& finally........my Father was a member of the crew of the Canberra when she was launched down the slipway in Belfast 1961.

So, its confirmed...............I,m a sad git :o

but in my opinon.........for a good reason.

sorry to bore you to tears but you now know " I,m a sad git indeed :D ( maybe you already knew that ???? lol )

so, anyone else done anything similar to confirm they are a "sad git" ?

cheers
andy

No reason......but, small world.

My grandma went on the Canberra back in 1965.
Saved all her money for a trip round the world.

Think you were a bit young to be a crew member then......
Or were you...: :D
Or may be it was your dad

Nothing wrong with being a sad git. If there was a lot of us would be in big trouble, I reckon....

We should all call you oundland (- 1p). You get everything for 99p.....

Don't worry Andy we all must be Sad Gits then....NOT (except for your 1000 piece jigsaw)

I'm sure most of us have had wives who just want all your money and your not allowed to spend any on yourself. You just need to be smarter with your money.

Take it easy....AndyH
