The day started well........into the Saturn unit early (lots to do),

Spud & I have a laugh whilst working, postie arrives with a prezzie from Sweden, had visitor to the unit....time to talk cars ........all in all a nice morning so far

Then :( i get a call from swmbo asking can i come home quickly ? "why whats up i ask?"
After 24hrs of non stop rain here, the mains drain in the dog compound is blocked & the dog run is flooding she says.........

right......like i can drop everything to go & unblock a drain that won,t affect the house

Anyways...... i go home about 2pm, (after another call from swmbo asking "when are you coming home?")........
gets home, unblocks the drain in 20 minutes,

Then i feed the dogs, which is a task in itself as need to keep all 8 of them seperated when food is about.........no probs, all dinners eaten without drama.......i,m then cleaning the dog run & all of a sudden there is this almighty scrap between 2 of the dogs...........over nothing in particular.......
I wade in to seperate them from eachothers necks  , gets the pair into seperate area,s of the kennel & checks for injuries on the dogs.........

Result being ....

1 dog with puncture wounds in leg & neck

other dog with a cut below an eye & a tooth ( main fang ) sticking out to the side of her mouth

Straight into the van to the vets.............result= pain killer injections, antibiotics for both dogs and appointment in a few days time for dog to have a tooth removed & the wallet £130 lighter , sighs

is it friday 13th or what?????

I know the feeling Andy,a carrot cost me £300 when my horse grabbed it from my hand and swallowed it whole stupid mare.
It nearly got her put down as a horse cannot vomit and it was stuck above her heart in the gullet, sedation and masses of anti-biotics later plus 2 sleepless nights and she was fine.

Sold her a month later, enough was enough.

Could have been worse for you though, glad its not too serious knowing what dogs can be like.

Get a sump pump for next time ;)

We had a long run with our cat last summer.

1) We took him to vets to have an excess tooth looked at, He was booked in to have it removed.
2) Back to Vets a week later to have it out, actualy took out 3 teeth. 2 days house arrest.
3) Week later goes missing. Check Nebouring garages, no sign.
4) Turns up in neigbours garage next day with bashed face and wonky walk.
5) Back to Vet. Has had dislocated pelvis, and bashed face to add to the swolen gums. We think he had nocked over a houshold radiator in the garage and been knocekd out.
6) Two weeks house arrest. ( new neigbour moves in accross road 1 week ago)
7) 1 week later cat escapes, finds new cat from across road and being a bit slow ends up in a scrap. Has cut to face and lascerated tail.
8) Back to vet. Gets ringtail and bandage. 2 weeks house arrest.
9) Find that cats tooth is now rubbing on exposed gums.. Back to vet.

Fortunatly, apart from the 1st terth, that was all insured..

:)

Chin up Andy, at least the drains did not back up :D

Your prezzie from Sweden - it wasn't "gentlemen's art pamphlets" was it?
Hope the dogs will be ok.

cheers guys.....

Janne.........me & the dogs will be ok thanks.........tho when Huskies decide to have a disagreement, its usually a HUGE disagreement & they generally will fight till one submits totally, tho i do trust my dogs & know they would never hurt me when i,m trying to seperate them.

Flyerncle........ yeah horses eh??? when i owned a horse (16 hand chestnut thoroughbred mare,,,,flighty or what ) , she caused me to end up with a broken shoulder after getting spooked by a train , ended up dragging me for 100 mtrs with me on my back on the floor with my leg wrapped up with the reigns  apparently the other horse owners on the yard thought i was doing a good impression of a John Wayne movie :D

TT.........

with having 8 dogs (7 huskies & a German Shepherd ) i worked out the cost of insuring them all & nearly $hit myself, so i don,t insure them hoping that in the long run the cost of any treatment would be cheaper than a years insurance

The dogs are all fit as i run them as a racing team ( sled stuff, like in the movies), & they are very VERY closely related to the wolf ( closest domesticated dog to the wolf ) & so they have a certain heirachy of who,s top dog etc & the occasional fight is all part of owning the breed when you have a "pack" of 7.

The 2 injured dogs now need to be kept apart until calm restores to the pack :( as, if i put them back into the pack the other dogs will realise they are injured & so are seen as "weaker" in the pack & may attack them just for the "ranking" position........

sighs.........

Thank the lord the drains did,t back up...............that would,ve been a "$hit day" .

cheers

We didnt have a fun day yesturday as well. I was at my office in Harpenden (I live 65 miles away in Rugby) when I got a frantic call from my youngest daughter. My grandaughter (she's 14 months old) had fallen from the couch and was unconscious . Luckily my eldest daughter was with her and is better in those situations so took over. Paramedics were called and little Chloe taken to hospital. CT scans showed no internal damage and to cut a tense evenings story short Chloe is now back home after a night in hospital.
She is as right as rain now and according to my daughter and son in law she almost back to normal.
The NHS gets some bad press sometime but a huge thanks to the Paramedics and the staff of Walsgrove Hospital in Coventry. They were helpful , efficient and friendly and allowed me and BA (Battle Axe) and Chloe’s other Granddad to visit way past visiting hours.

Kids, love em to bits but still drive a person crazy!

I thought this was going somewhere much more sinister during initial scan reading Paul - thought it explained the swagger......;) See you in the morning, Lets hope for a bright day.

What a crap afternoon Andy, Seemed Sue was over reacting a tad but its a good job you went back when you did there ready to separate the pack.

Thanks guys, you've just put my "bad day" into perspective. All I've had to do is stand around in the NEC for 8 hours (plus a 1 hour train journey at each end) and deal with eejits! for example one guy came onto our stand and asked for a "none wireless reversing camera".....................eerrrrrr.......that'll be a wired job then?

They walk amongst us!

Oh yeah, I did have a bit of bad luck this morning, I had to call into Maplin in Brum on the way in to get some bits for a mate, I got there 25 mins before they opened so went elsewhere for a coffee and bacon bap. went back to Maplin, got the bits, paid, walked out, half way back to the train station realised I no longer had my lunch bag with me:( . Back to Maplin, no sign of it, nobody had handed anything in so I had to make do with a large hot dog for £3.50:eek: .. Mind you they are specialist sausages, wild boar and apple with mild chilli sauce.........yum:rolleyes:

I don't suppose that cat goes by the name of .... Lucky !!

Sorry to make light of all that .... Just couldn't resist :o

At times like this, caring for our pets can certainly hurt the wallet !!

Almost lost our little Yorkie a few months back with an infection .... The £250 vets bill was worth every penny to see him well again :)

------------------------------------------------------

Andy

I am glad that things are OK now .... I hate having crap days like that :(

Feeling guilty now .... I had a good day yesterday, made even better by some nice Photos ;)

Tumler, or "that stupid cat" .

Bit challenged in the brains department it seems. But he loves eveyone and everyone in the street seems to know him. We have to keep taking him home though as he follows us to the supermarket half a mile away..

What is it with cats !!

We had one many monns ago that would follow my wife down to the school twice a day

One of our current daft lumps will walk down the lane with me when I am walking the dog ..... It must look wierd ..... Yorkie on the lead & a cat almost twice the size of the dog, walking shoulder to shoulder together :)

I get some mighty strange looks from some of the visitors that use our lane :D :D

I hadn't thought of that :o .... Quite possible .... I do tend to walk a bit wobbly at times .... I wish I could blame it on alcohol or weed :D :D

Here's some more daft questions we've been asked this week (just to make you smile;) ).

Can you give me an approximate suggested price for this solar panel?...........I can do better than that sir, I can give you an exact price!

Is that solar panel light sensitive?..........................

I would like this automatic self seeking satellite dish but I don't want that control box as there's no room in any of the cupboards for it............................

And this morning from a man looking at the display of reversing camera systems:
"These TVs............how do they work.....................do you charge them from a computer?"

Very tempting sometimes to just say "I'm sorry sir but you are obviously just too stupid to be allowed to own anything more technological than a match!"
