Aren't you glad we have a good, clean, well run and friendly site. Have a look at the following Locost Thread:

http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=132049

Can't believe that the moderator would stoop so low to call a new member an idiot like that. One reason why i will never contribute towards the site.

Keep up the good work with a friendly self run site.....Thanks All...;)

That, my friends is the very reason I sought asylum over here. Much smaller, friendlier community of builders here.

On this site you will always get a straight answer to your question.

On this site there is no such thing as a "Stupid question" after all if you didn't know you wouldn't ask.

On this site you don't have to trawl thgrough endless p1sstakes and biccering to maybe find a post that has something to do with building a car.

On this site, you don't find power crazy moderators censoring anybody who dares challenge their almighty power.

And finally, this site isn't owned by a money grabbing, person, (had to hold my tongue there) who calls himself the boss and then insults the very members who paid to be on the site in the first place.

LCB used to be a good resource till it got too big. It's now starting to resemble barryboys.com

Well Said Sam, my thoughts exactly i just didn't have time to put them all down.

My first post as Saturn Sports Cars (still posting as Spud69) he slapped a big tag to my post "WARNING this member may be a trader etc", all because he wanted £20 a month of me. Well B***oxs to that. Hicost Forum me thinks.

I think Locost Builders is a bit like Top Gear. Its more of a car themed forum, than for actual Locost Builders. Now thats not a bad thing for an online community, but I feel its needs bringing back on course. Moving non Kitcar topics off the front page would help.

My only other issue is that many of the people aren't even builders. They are just cheque book owners. Like some guy bragging how he got a £1200 Hayabusa engine off Ebay he doesn't even need and will just leave it in his garage.

Some people have such little mechanical knowledge they ask utterly stupid questions, immediately highlighting they just got the thing from Autotrader and have no idea how it works. With so many clueless people, they keep having the same discussions.

But there are good members on there who are knowledgeable. Sadly its pot luck whether they will assist you, or some random geezer.

Stopped following that lot when "the boss" treated Chris G like a piece of cr^p. I really don't know that I've ever seen a more authoritarian forum.

This one on the other hand pretty much self manages.

my personal view .............

After the way Chris Gibbs was treated last year by Chris W ( self proclaimed "Boss" on LCB) by adding what he did to Chris Gibbs Signature on all the posts that Chris Gibbs had ever posted on the LCB forum I find it shocking that a forum "owner/moderator" could be so childish & in such a public way.
It is none of my business about the "what was said/ who said/did what" that caused the falling out , but the way it was handled in public is disgusting.

As for Chris W calling a forum member an idiot ( again not my place to question the reason why he felt the need to )..........it has proven to me that the LCB forum is a dictatorship, I accept rules are in place & rightly so to ensure that no racist /sexist feelings are posted without being moderated etc BUT to call a forum member such a deflamatory name in public is outrageous ,

If a bloke called any of us an idiot in a pub etc I wonder how often he,d be chinned??????? Chris W hides behind the faceless appearance of the internet.

Its a real shame as there are alot of very helpful friendly members on that forum who always try to offer help if they are able, to any fellow car builder.

Just a shame its being run under martial law,

all said in my opinion of course

A fair point of view Adrian, & may i say well written/put forward...........

Speaking on behalf of myself only here, what I find difficult to accept is the way Chris W speaks ( types) to members on/in public, thru the LCB forum,

I personally agree with you Adrian with regard "site rules", & if the rules are in place then yes they should be adhered to as best as possible, but its the manner in which a breach of "rules" is handled by the site owner, maybe , just maybe it highlights the way the site is "run", & at times this doesn,t always portray a professional image .

Also, for instance, there is currently a thread on the front page of LCB discussing some pictures of a road legal single seater ( very nice pics too ), a forum member has posted a comment of what the C**** G**** single seater may look like,
The point i,m trying to make in a polite way is ..........

Forum members DARE NOT mention something in conversation of a thread for fear of being thought less of by the site owner, even when discussing a car.
To me thats a crazy situation to be in when just normal chat about a type of car cannot be discussed without upsetting a certain person???

As for site rules being broken.........what rules do we have on this forum that have needed intervention of the admin? none that i can recall, to me that speaks volumes of how this forum is run, by admin & the members themselves.

We all I,m sure have a point of view, long may it continue to be allowed, without the need of the "wrath" of someone that may not agree with our views.

Put your stick away you naughty man:D
I think all this just helps to highlight what a fantastic forum this one is. Everyone is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I have learnt so much from being here, some of the threads I have read have saved my time, money and frustration, that's what forums should be for - that and the comforting feeling that there are like minded nutters out there :) . Damn fine bunch of chaps here, let's hope it always stays that way.

LCB is a good site and costs Chris a lot of money to host.
Fozzie is a diamond bird doing a sterling job keeping check on things, you should see the car she built with her own hands...awesome:cool:
Folk are right, it costs strong money to advertise in magazines (and what a waste of money that is too) so I thank Chris for his site as it made my life a lot easier selling seats etc as I had a captive audience.

I don't think I ever got told off for posting drivel either so I don't see why folk moan, yeah the 2 C's have a had a spat so what and I doubt we will ever know why but WHO REALLY CARES!!!!!!

Moral?
build yer cars, learn from those willing to give out advice and..CHILL OUT:rolleyes:
