Hi folks, just wondering how many people are fitting the 8 valve DOHC. I have got quite a way with mine and am in the process of building a new inlet manifold that will fit under a standard bonnet. I may write it up if enough people are interested - otherwise I will spend my time building. So if you are interested in how I am doing it please reply here, if there is enough interest I will do an article seperate to my build diary.
Best and all that,
Enoch.

I'm using the 16V DOHC out of a Escort RS2000, with a 8v sump, oil pick up and dip. I'm using bike carbs on mine though.

Hi Enoch,

I'm also juggling with the I4 8v DOHC engine position. Trying to get the right balance with the engine height regarding the sump protrusion and bonnet clearances. Reference the inlet manifold, I've got some CBR929 throttle bodies. This will entail chopping the manifold and grafting on stubs to match the throttle bodies centres. This will be quite a way ahead in my schedule! Still interested in how you get on with your plenum mods. Could still change my mind and still use the existing plenum in modified form.:)

Cheers
John

Hi John, I am a tight fisted git so throttle bodies are out of my league. I am at a fairly early stage of modding the manifold, I have no idea if it will turn out OK or not but it sounds like a fine plan when I run it through in my head:)
I have done the design for it (again in my head) and have cut the original down but am now waiting for some ally and some duraweld before I can start making the new one up.
Best and all that,
Dave

I've just bought a 2.0 DOHC, the car is in mint condition with 11M MOT so despite the bad press I thought I'll take it anyway and either re-engineer the inlet manifold around the EFI or just put a funky bonnet scoop on.

Still in tyhe very very early stage but def interested to find out how others have used this power plant

There are some photos in my build diary - www.deepfolly.co.uk. I expect to be adding more soon.

Nice one, I'll be in touch, looks like we are def the minority on this forum building with dohc!

I'll stay in touch

Cool!! My bonnet will still need a bulge at the front but the bulge that would be required for the original inlet would be much, much bigger. I have cut the original down and started to make the alli box to duraweld on to it. Someone sent me some other documents and photos, I will see if I can find them and PM them to you.
All the best,
Enoch

Excellent, that would be sound. To be honest this was my biggest reservation, dealing with the EFI but if you are paving the way then we may start the revolution

Once you have the box finished let me know I know of a few precision Engineering shops that maybe able to route/etch the EFI back into the top of the box section
