Do you mean front engien - Torque Tube - Gearbox..

Or mid engine?

the 914 was mid engine.

the 924 and 944 had rear gearboxes with front mounted engines.

Old Alfa's had rear gearboxes. If you want proper mid engined then how bout Subaru? I read somewhere (PPC magazine??) that the propshaft to the rear (on the standard car) can be disconected in some way. Plenty of power, low CofG. Sounds good to me.

them little volvos from the mid 80's pritty sure it was the 300 series
think you had a 1.4 or 1.7 renelt engine or a volvo 2L .
even did a veromatic version with bands like a daf44

the prop was v light alloy with rubber bits at each end bell housing with clutch at the engine end and box/transaxel at the back

Alec Poole from Ireland had one fitted with a Formula 5000 fitted in the rear and I saw one at Croft years ago with a 2ltr FVA and Hewland box in the rear.
