Hiya folks
Have eventually dug up the courage to spend some money. I've agreed to buy an almost complete Haynes chassis, all donor parts, and loads of other bits off a fella on ebay. I pick it up on Monday in a bloody big van.
My problem is there are still a couple of chassis plates/brackets left to weld on. I don't have a welder or any welding ability whatsoever.
I have two choices, 1) leave the chassis on ice while I buy a welder and learn how to weld. 2) find myself some really nice bloke on here who can pop round to my house in Durham area with his welding equipment and spend a couple of hours welding on the necessary bits and bobs. There'll be copious amounts of tea/coffee, and obviously a few beer tokens in it for them.
There's still a couple of wishbones and the rear uprights to complete too, but seeing as they are a bit more portable I can get them done elsewhere if necessary.
Anyway, I'll report back on here when I get all of my stuff together to keep you all informed.
Cheers guys

Alan

Alan,

I would love nothing more than to pop over and do some welding for you, simply to have someone make me tea all day,:D easily pleased me.:)

BUT you are 287miles and 5hours 14 minutes away.:( Sorry good luck though.

Cheers Ginge

287 miles, is that all!!! What a crap excuse Ginge. I didn't expect you to walk it!!;)
Cheers mate, I'm sure some kind soul who lives a bit nearer will come forward.
You could always post an ad "Will weld for tea!"

I've been to Saturn, and to say you're busy is an understatement. Was gonna approach you first, but knew how busy you were. I'll be coming to see you and t'other Andy soon for some parts that I don't have, and of course the bodywork. Oh yeah, and some more of that free advice you seem to hand out in droves.
Looking forward to getting started.

You're welcome to bring it onto Saturn CC and we can complete your chassis for you if you have all the plates, if there's not much to do we can complete it while you wait. My new welding set is too big to be portable now......:D

Sure it'll go on your roof rack.

cheers Andy & Andy. I've just got rid of me estate car and haven't got a roof rack on my new motor. Am getting a trailer soon, so will hopefully be able to strap it onto the trailer and fetch it through. I've also got a couple of wishbones that need welding up to. I'll ring when I'm ready for the work and we'll work out a price.
