WHAT a day..............
Early start....sorted dogs out...kids off to school....things are going well
Got a full day planned working on the chassis orders, worky boots on / overalls on & into the workshop .......
Needed to move something to create some working space for the mountain of steel around me.......
the "something" to move is a heavy lump so do the correct method....H&S in mind...correct workwear with safety boots/overalls & thick safety gloves...
Knee,s bent......grasps the " lump"....takes the strain......makes the lift... looking good so far........THEN
I suddenly felt what I can only describe as a "TWANG" in my back.....didn,t dare move:eek: .........finally managed to lower the " lump" to floor height ( dropped it :D ).....& slowly made it to a soft sofa chair .....didn,t move for what seemed an age ...........
spent the rest of the day on my back on the floor,
managed to make it home.....bath is run & i,m about to spend an hour or 2 soothing my back.......
WHAT a day !!!!
:D must be a sign i,m getting old LOL
cheers

Andy,
Hope its not too serious, problem being once you've damaged your back once its even easier to do the next time.
Anyway all the best and get well soon.
PS. probably nothing to do with AGE!!! (much):D

That is a real pain Andy
Let's hope it's no more that a bit of a tweak :)
It's the silly things that catch me out & keeps me out of action for months :(
Take it steady mate, with a little luck you'll be feeling a lot better in the morning :)

OUUCH....
I damaged my back when I was 13, probably stronger for it as I had to spend years paying particular attention to lifting. Still get problems like locking up and pains after stooping for a while.
Get Well Sooooon

My brother-in-law has a knackered back and is currently waiting for an Op, he is always complaining about it (rightly so).
So take it easy especially at your age.:D :D :D

Andy,
Get to the doctor tomorrow and get it sorted as it sounds like a disc or two.:(
Be VERY careful how you get up in the morning take it slow - just try sitting up to start with.
But deffo get to the doctors and get it sorted. If you leave it like I did and struggle on you'll rip your lumbar muscles and be flat on your back for weeks in a LOT of pain and twenty years later it's still dodgy.
Don't put it off get to the doctor asap. DO IT!

Oh yes, just locking up and home via pub for 3 units of alcohol. Just don't tell the misses---------Oh Burger, she reads the forum to keep up to date with everything......:o
For the massage Sue is too petite, you need somebody with big strong hands.

Hi Andy.
First off...Ya silly s*d.
Secondly as Vern says, if it's still bad in the morning get yourself up to A&E.
I could just be a torn muscle...But don't take the chance hu.
I f***ed my back up in 1995.
Didn't do anything about it.
I'm now on the disabled register for my stupidity
Not trying to frighten you, but suggesting you don't take the chance

Hi Andy, sorry to hear of your misadventure, I speak with experience where back trouble is concerned as I was medically retired from ABRO in 1998 with chronic back pain, its a real bitch!
Chances are you've torn or possibly ruptured a muscle, the big problem is if you don't rest it for several days at least your back goes into what physios call a "protective spasm reaction" (PSR). Basically your body recognises the injury and tries to immobilise the area by tensing the muscles, this then puts even more strain on the injures muscle and aggravates the pain which in turn causes the PSR to tighten even more putting even more strain on the injury, a REALLY vicious circle!
Relax and rest is the best answer, hot water bottle wrapped in a towel and placed over the injury while you lie face down can help to relax the muscles. Likewise lying face down with a pillow under your chest when you're in bed can work wonders.
Don't take to your "sick bed" totally though as this can aggravate things, just don't pick up anything heavier than your todger for the next couple of days and bimble (medical terminology) about gently.
Get well soon mate;)

In edit, Nurofen/Ibuprofen pain killers will help as they are also anti inflammatories.

Cheers Big Vern / Dogwood / Davey...
sorry i wasn,t being rude by not replying
I was on the phone talking Roadster with a fellow forum member:)
thanks for all your advice, all taken onboard, tho I do feel alot more relaxed than earlier today, I think it was something as Davey has said....I,ve been tensing up ( expecting it to hurt etc ), feel better after a soothing bath.
If i,m stiff :p in the morning i,ll pop to A&E for a checkup.
I really appreciate all your kind words....& yes David.... i,m a silly sod :D
Spud...... I hope you are not offering ????? big hands etc :D
cheers

Thanks for asking Davey :)
I feel alot better thanks, got some strong painkillers from my doctor, took a while for them to kick in but its now bearable :)
It was just bad timing, probably cos i,m trying to do 101 things this week getting ready for stoneleigh.
Like Ronnie says...it would take more than a bad back to stop me getting to stoneleigh... if my van broke down I,d probably use my team of huskies to get me there :D
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the show.
cheers
