Vosa finally got around to booking me in for an iva test
So 4.30am this morning with the help of spud who organised the towing dolly and the tow car (thanks again mate) of i went on the 2hr journey to beverley testing station
Pulled it into the testing lane and off the tester went, prodding, pulling things etc as you would expect and generally checked all the things we know about
He pointed out that my lights werent aligned properly and kindly let us align them in situe
After this he lifted the car up on the ramp with me in it and inspected the suspension and engine bay from underneath etc
When he emerged he asked "what do you do for a living"
I replied im a mechanical fitter and ex plater welder
He then said "what so you dont build cars proffesionally then"
This put a smile on my face and calmed the nerves a little :D
The rest of the test went well too field of vision in the mirrors ok, self centering was fine, brake balance fine and noise came out at only 83db
Anyway to cut a long story short
I PASSED FIRST TIME.................. YIPEEEEE :D :D
Ps. another big thanks to spud for all the help today

My rear stays are made fom the same diameter tube as the hoop supplied by ash and extend down to the most outer lower point of the chassis where they are bolted through 8mm gusset plates with a m14 bolt. Just one bolt in each side but quite a hefty one!

Hey Mark,
Congratulations that's great news and it's only taken a few roadsters going through the IVA to get a clean first time pass
Waaahhhooooooooooooo
well done - some expensive kits are struggling with the IVA but a car you can build all yourself can get a first time pass.
You must be well chuffed.

Here are a couple of pics from today, its just my car on the brake rollers and mr iva tester lining it up with the markings on the road to test the field of view in my mirrors
Al the vosa men were wearing hard hats shaped like the ones that the smurfs wear :D
My tester was a top bloke and it was a good day out, the pass was the cherry on the cake
I will post up some pics of the finished car when i get round to taking some good ones
Just a shame dvla wouldnt inspect it on the way home, they have changed the rules at my local office so i have to book an appointment at vosa darlington where someone from dvla will look at my chassis/engine no.
Its ironic that vosa beverley had it for 3hrs and the chassis/engine no was the first thing he checked out
I have to wait until the 20th of may, get it trailored there and then i can get my tax and logbook
Just one more hoop to jump thru and il be on the road, cant wait

Well if you are happy with no 13, PM me some details and I can add you to the completed car list. That then makes membership of the soon to be running HSBC??? compulsory!!
Sorry, HSCC
Double sorry, that is actually number 012 - not sure why I thought number 013, must have been saving 012 for Handy!!

You - too slow.
Me - too thick!
Me and SWMBO went out for a beer and curry tonight and had too much of each. Why? She had got through an OFSTED inspection at her school! It's the little things in life that make you happy now............ :p

Ofsted Eh... They are like hawks on us. Fortunately for me and my guys every time they or one of the other inspectory groups visit our phones go dead and nobody needs us..
Our place has had more assorted inspections in 14 months than most schools will get in 30 years..

She is their Business Manager and I think she got the better of them today!! They seemed to focus on safeguarding and being at an inner city school with a diverse catchment, they had real demonstrable evidence. Oh and a hubby who is a medic/manager helped - my advice was don't show them the policy, tell 'em what you did when you actually needed to! Seemed to work, which is nice. :D

Well Done Mark,
A very well deserved pass. Just need to get the DVLA sorted, the next local office is Newcastle - don't think its worth going up there though, you'll just have to keep pestering them.
